Three Rivers (A Gateway To Love Novel) {Book Review}

Title: Three Rivers {A Gateway To Love Novel}

Author: Chloe Barlow

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Description:

How do you start over when you gave everything to one life, one plan, and lost it all?

Althea refuses to allow herself to love again. Imprisoned in grief at twenty-four after her husband’s sudden death, she’s convinced her heart died along with him. She spends her days honoring his memory by clinging to the legal career he helped her to build and to the remaining pieces linking them together.

Griffen’s been running from his past. Despite success as an author and investigative journalist, he’s been traveling through life on autopilot. For a decade, he’s chosen perilous adventures and meaningless sex over the danger of any attachments. When he finally returns home to Pittsburgh, he’s slammed by the awakened memories and regret he’s spent years trying to escape.

A chance encounter brings them together. Their instant desire for each other – and the bond they discover between them – shocks them both. Despite her best efforts, Althea can’t resist Griffen’s charm or his intriguing proposition – if she agrees to a no-strings affair with him for the two weeks he’s in town, he swears he’ll walk away when their time is up. Assured she can test the waters of a new life while keeping her vow never to betray her husband’s memory by opening her heart to another, Althea throws herself into the escape Griffen provides her.

Their perfect plans go awry when the intensity of their connection overwhelms them. Will they risk it all on the chance of something great together…or will the power of their secrets and guilt tear them apart?

My Review:

     This book has become one of my top Ten of the year.... Make sure you have your box of tissues on hand... This book is heartbreaking.... Touching.... And about learning to love again...

     Oh boy I'm not sure after writing that right up there I have to write much more for this review!!!! Hahaha..... No but really my intro up there pretty much sums this book up in a nutshell. I originally signed up to do the Cover Reveal of the second book in this series City Of Champions which comes out today. With the chance to review that book. They sent me both books to review so I could understand them both and I was so happy to be able to read the both.

    What can I say? Well author Chloe Barlow was a new author to me. She pulls you right into this book Three Rivers and let me warn you, you will need a box of tissues right from the beginning of this book.

   Let's see right away at least after the prologue you can tell Althea's character is strong willed and independent. She's doing the best she can getting over the death of her husband and trying to raise her son on her own. Though there were times throughout the book I wanted to jump in and shake her. She's just a little bit stubborn about something's.

     Griffen is one of those "Oh boy what can I say about Giffren?" characters for me. He's sweet and sexy, determined and I fell in love with his character right away. He's one of those dream guys you (well I) wish were real.

     You can feel the instant attraction that Althea and Griffen have for each other. You can also tell both characters are shouldering some blame for the death of Althea's husband and Griffens best friend.

    I loved all the characters, well almost all of the characters in this book. Chloe Barlow kept Althea's best friend lighthearted and real. Althea's former mother-in-law got on my nerves. I tried to like the woman I really did, but I just couldn't get over the fact that she was trying to hold Althea back.

    As I said at the beginning of this review this book has jumped into my top ten of the year for me. Author Chloe Barlow weaves a beautiful tale of love and loss, letting go, and learning to fall in love again.

    I give this book a strong 5 Out Of 5 Stars and would definitely recommend it.
