Title: Upside Down {An Off the Map Novel}

Author: Lia Riley

Genre: New Adult

Book Description:

If You Never Get Lost, You'll Never Be Found

Twenty-one-year-old Natalia Stolfi is saying good-bye to the past-and turning her life upside down with a trip to the land down under. For the next six months, she'll act like a carefree exchange student, not a girl sinking under the weight of painful memories. Everything is going according to plan until she meets a brooding surfer with hypnotic green eyes and the troubling ability to see straight through her act.

Bran Lockhart is having the worst year on record. After the girl of his dreams turned into a nightmare, he moved back home to Melbourne to piece his life together. Yet no amount of disappointment could blind him to the pretty California girl who gets past all his defenses. He's never wanted anyone the way he wants Talia. But when Bran gets a stark reminder of why he stopped believing in love, he and Talia must decide if what they have is once in a lifetime . . . or if they were meant to live a world apart.

Book #1 in the OFF THE MAP series

My Review:

        In author Lia Riley's debut book Upside Down you will want to curl up on the couch with a blanket for this book. Oh and FYI you may want to bring a box of tissues. It's a powerful story that draws you in from the first page and keeps you going until the very last word.

      Both Bran and Talia have problems that their running from.  I really felt connected with Talia's character in this story. Which by the way doesn't happen often for me with the female character's in books. But in this story Talia's running from the she feels she is to blame for the death of her older sister, who died in a car accident. I lost a sister years ago in a car accident. So I can understand where Talia is coming from when she just wants to get away. Also not to mention everything else she is dealing with.

     Oh Bran what can I say about Bran? He's definitely not your typical swoon worthy male in this book. Bran has his own problems that he is trying to get over. So he comes off as defensive and rude. Its obvious that he doesn't let anyone get close to him.

     I loved the banter between Bran and Talia. Their banter kept a very deep and emotional book light at times. The characters were well developed and relatable and the plot is believable and flows very well. Also I thought the steamy scenes were done tastefully.

    I would give this book a 4.5 out of 5 stars and can't wait to read the next book in this series, to see where Bran and Talia take us.
