A Beauty Uncovered (Secrets of Eden #2) {Book Review}

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from author for free for my review. The opinions in this post are 100% of my own and may differ from other's.

Title: A Beauty Uncovered {Secrets of Eden #2}

Author: Andrea Laurence

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Description:

A beastly boss is tamed in this Secrets of Eden book from Andrea Laurence…

CEO Brody Eden is a loner. The brooding billionaire has secrets that he refuses to unveil to anyone…until he meets his new assistant, Samantha Davis. She's temptation personified, and she's sitting right outside his door.

Samantha's never met a man as guarded—and gorgeous—as Brody. She doesn't want to fall for her boss, but there's something about Brody…. Beneath his gruff manner, Sam senses tenderness—and an intense passion waiting to be unleashed. And she'll make it her mission to enter his lair…and his bed.

My Review:

This is obviously as the title says the 2nd book in the Secrets of Eden series. And as I've said in my other reviews to this series of books I started reading this series back wards. If you haven't read any of the books in the Secrets of Eden series or my reviews on the other 2 books. You can read them Here  & Here. So what should have been the 2nd book I've read in this series has ended up being the 3rd book in this series I've read.

So that being said even after reading the 3rd book 1st, and than the 1st book 2nd. I was really looking forward to reading Brody's story. In this book you find out a little bit more about the Secrets that the boy's and Julianne are keeping hidden and of course you find out more about the way that Brody became scarred. I love that even though I have read these books backwards that I can still feel that the bit of mystery Andrea has put in these books, still feels mysterious to me.

I love, love, love Brody. I'm not quite sure what is about Brody. But there's something about him that just makes me gravitate towards his character in this series. And its not because he's the loner or the one who had something terrible happen to him as a child. I think part of it is that he just seems real. That even though he may be mean and guarded around people he doesn't know, that the people that he does let in get to see another side of him.

Sam was very likeable right off the bat. She's independent and has a determined attitude to get to know Brody right away. I liked that she acted as there was nothing wrong with Brody's outer appearance.

I have to say now that I have read all of the books in this series (except for the last one which isn't out yet). I think besides Brody's story, I'm most excited to read Heath's story. I have an idea what the mystery is, but I can't wait to see if I'm right.

Back In Her Husband's Bed {Book Review}

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book for free from Andrea Laurence for my review. The opinions in this post are 100% of my own and may differ from others.

Title: Back In Her Husband's Bed

Author: Andrea Laurence

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Description:

She can finally have the one thing she wants. All she has to do is play the happy wife…and not fall in love with her husband.

It's been three years since Annie Baracas left her husband, Vegas casino owner Nathan Reed, and he still hasn't signed the divorce papers. So when Nate finally offers to set her free, Annie will agree to any terms. Even if that means temporarily resuming her role as his wife to help him catch a thief. But what starts as a public display quickly turns very private. And Annie can't help wondering what it might be like to stay in Nate's bed…for as long as they both shall live.

My Review:

I was honestly a little worried about this book when I first read the description. I was afraid that it would be the typical wife leaves husband, husband and wife are reunited, blah blah blah. But no this one a little bit different.

This book gives an interesting look at the operations of a casino in the middle of one of those big poker tournaments that they show on television.

Nate finds himself needing help from Annie. In return he'll give Annie the divorce she wants. Only if she'll help figure out who is cheating at the tournament.

I loved both Annie and Nate - and boy are there some steamy scenes between the pair of them!

This was an enjoyable read with just a touch of angst to go with some bad guy action. Keeps you interested and engaged, especially the second part when things start speeding up.

Hot Shot {Book Review}

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book for free for my review. The opinion's in this post are 100% of my own and may differ from other's.

Title: Hot Shot

Author: Lynn Raye Harris

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Description:

Hostile Operations Team sniper Jack “Hawk” Hunter is cool, methodical, and utterly lethal. Nothing rattles Jack’s calm. But that was before he learned he fathered a child three years ago—a child who has just been kidnapped.

Gina Domenico is a superstar, a pop sensation with a string of hit records. But deep inside, she’s still the lonely girl she’s always been. When Jack saved her from an arms dealer, they spent three unforgettable days together waiting for rescue—and Gina fell hard for the sexy soldier before he walked away forever.

But now she needs his help and she’ll do anything to get it. Though Jack can never forgive Gina for keeping his child from him, he’ll do everything in his power—and HOT’s—to bring their son home safely.

Nothing is what it seems, however, and their fates hang in the balance as someone else pulls the strings…and brings them ever closer to an explosive confrontation that could either save their son—or cost them everything.

My Review:

So again this is another series I started way into the series. In fact Hot Shot is the 5th book from the series. And also the first book I have read from author Lynn Raye Harris. I did really enjoy this book and the whole story flowed very nicely. I also really liked the fact that even though that this was the fifth book in the series it could be read as a stand alone. I didn't feel like I was missing anything or I didn't understand anything. The only thing I felt like I was missing out on was knowing who all the characters were and that was an easy fix after I read Hot Shot.

I loved Jack "Hawk" Hunter he is a mans man. He's sexy, and confident and has a job he loves doing. But he has his own dark issues that he's trying to still get over and that don't allow him to really get close with anyone.

Hmmmm Gina was an interesting heroine for me. I have a very hard time reading heroines in books a lot of the time. It's not that I don't try and like them it's I just have a hard time liking them or relating with them. So when I was reading I really didn't want to like Gina because she had kept the fact that Jack had a kid from him. I understand why she did though. But I did enjoy Gina's character after all.

This book starts off with a bang and keeps your attention and has just the right amount of mystery. And of course just the right amount of smexi-ness. I definitely give this book 4.5 stars out of 5 and would recommend it. I can't wait to read more out of this series.

You can purchase Hot Shot on Amazon, B & N, iBooks, and Kobo.

DESIRED EXCERPT:

Forgive me.

Ella’s shoulders slumped and she sighed at her phone. Laughter and joy surrounded her, music and happiness, but her stomach plummeted as she read her husband, Rory Snow’s text. When would he give up? Didn’t a domestic violence protection order say This relationship is over?

As the band played a slow song, she ran her fingers over the scar by her right eye. The mark was a constant reminder of Rory. Every day she looked in the mirror she saw it and thought of him.

All she wanted was to forget. Heck, she’d been doing exactly that. Rory was the jackass who couldn’t let it go. Ella knew she should probably call the Savannah police department to inform them that Rory was contacting her, but she was so damn tired of it all. She had moved on and put Rory into her past of big mistakes.

She’d hoped Rory would do the same.

That didn’t look like it was going to happen anytime soon.

With a grumble, she slipped her phone into her dress pocket and zipped it closed. She scanned through the crowd on the dance floor and her gaze landed on the bride. Aidan’s new wife was beautiful. Thin and elegant, Cora belonged on a magazine cover.

Ella’s heart twisted in the midst of memories of her wedding. Her day hadn’t been so lavish. Rory hadn’t rented out an entire resort at Lake Las Vegas for the event, ensuring their guests had a place to stay. Her wedding had cost all of two thousand dollars, but it had been enough for her.

She’d loved the high school sweetheart she’d met when she was fifteen and married five years later. Had loved him. Right up until Rory started drinking and drowning himself in booze.

Sober Rory was a good man.

Drunk Rory had a violent side.

That violence had shoved Ella face-first into a table. The night she’d got the stitches was the night she’d walked away from him. Six months later, she had left her life in Savannah. She moved to Vegas for the excitement, landing herself an amazing job at Knight Law Firm, working as the assistant for a highly respected defense attorney.

Ella enjoyed working for Aidan, and actually liked him as a person, too. He paid her almost triple what she had made in Savannah. Her professional life couldn’t get any better. It was the personal side of things that remained murky.

As she watched Aidan twirl his new wife around, dancing proudly for all to see, Ella tried to find her smile, but it remained hidden behind pain. Even if ten months had gone by since the night of the abuse, she couldn’t ignore the dark thoughts and her failed marriage.

It took six months to find the courage to file divorce papers, and another four months since leaving Savannah to pull herself together again, but she was over Rory in every sense of the word. She refused to let him ruin this special occasion. Grabbing her wineglass, she downed the remaining contents.

Tonight she hoped for a little liquid happiness.

When she lowered her glass to the table, a tingling sensation spread across her skin. Lifting her head, she gazed across the patio, and sitting at one of the patio sets was one of Aidan’s groomsmen. She’d never seen him before today, but that wasn’t a huge surprise, since she didn’t know most of the people at the wedding.

Except for a bunch of lawyers from the firm and Aidan’s parents, everyone else was a stranger. Aidan never mixed pleasure with business, and in the four months she had worked for him, she’d never met a single friend of his. Heck, she hadn’t known Aidan was dating. One day she’d thought he was single; the next he told her he was getting married.

Oddly enough, she was drawn to Aidan’s groomsman. Staring into his warm blue eyes, pins and needles and other sensitive feelings traveled up her body, settling between her thighs. She squirmed against her seat, avoiding the heat, and the side of his mouth curved. Her heart tripped and she glanced to her high-heeled shoe dangling off her toe.

Geebus, if he didn’t stop looking at her with those piercing eyes, she would combust. All night he’d been sneaking glances at her. They weren’t simple interested looks, either; they were outright assaults on her hormones. But a man’s attention was the last thing she was looking for.

No, thank you.

When she still sensed his gaze, she peeked to discover she wasn’t wrong. His intense stare was right on her. The power of it sucked the air from her lungs. Though she’d never believed in lust at first sight, perhaps it was because she had never experienced it.

Whoever he was, he was hot!

“More wine, miss?”

Ella gasped, looking up to the waitress standing next to her holding a bottle of white wine. She gave a shaky laugh. “To the top, please.”

The waitress smiled, filling the glass to the rim. “Why aren’t you dancing?”

“I look like a dying fish when I dance,” Ella said with a laugh. “I have two left feet.”

“We’ll need to work on that, won’t we?”

The waitress was looking over Ella’s shoulder with wide eyes. And something in that masculine voice made Ella stiffen in her seat. The tone was low and seductive, but mischievous all the same.

Then he was there.

The groomsman who’d been staring at her from across the patio now stood in front of her. Ella’s mind went blank. He smelled of sandalwood, and the rich scent puckered her nipples. From afar she thought he had blue eyes, but up close she realized they were a blue-green color. Pretty. In fact, the whole package was beautiful, especially covered in the tux.

He leaned down toward her and offered his hand. His messily styled light brown hair dangled over his forehead. He was tall, much taller than she, and he filled out his tux nicely.

Hell’s bells!

“Dance with me,” he said.

Ella quivered under his clever smile, and a slow heat slid through her. He happened to be one of the hottest guys she’d ever seen. Well, in person and not on some magazine she figured was Photoshopped. Though, hot or not, there was still a problem. “I’m sorry, but I can’t dance.”

“Everyone can dance.” His potent stare held hers and his hand never lowered. “It’s all about who is leading.”

Persistent sexy man.

Under his intense scrutiny her insides went mushy. The power this man exuded burned through her, reminding her she hadn’t felt this way in a long time. The attraction was intoxicating, and something needy inside her unfurled, yearning to explore it.

No, her mind argued.

At her pause, one sleek brow arched. “If you wait any longer to take my hand, you might give me a complex.”

The waitress hadn’t moved, watching the exchange. Even if Ella hated dancing and wasn’t looking for a relationship, she couldn’t refuse the urge to be squished up against him. Besides, what was a dance? This hunk was the perfect way to get her mind off Rory and onto something a lot better.

As she rose and slid her fingers into his warm grip, his gaze remained on hers. Heat stormed into her, spiraling low in her body with a wicked thud. She didn’t doubt that smile got him into many women’s beds.

It had power and charm.

He tightened his fingers around hers, and something passed in the air between them, so hot and so damn unforgettable, her body all but liquefied. He tugged her closer and she felt something odd inside awaken, something she couldn’t quite put her finger on.

Something she wanted to lose herself in.

A sensation that made her mind shut off.

He led her into the middle of the crowd on the dance floor, pulling her tight against him as if she belonged right there in his arms. He had no hesitation about placing his hand low on her back, quite close to her bottom, and sandwiching their bodies together.

Ella swallowed and avoided his gaze, staring at the band as they played a classic song. She wasn’t blind to the glaringly obvious fact that the groomsman had an erection. She thought she should be offended or something, but found herself fighting against the desire to rub against him.

“Ella, right?”

She cleared her throat, angling her head. His face was chiseled and smooth, but his eyes were what made this man sexy. They held mischief with a sense of confidence. “Yes, and you would be?”

“Kyler Morgan.”

Of course, the sexy man came with a sexy name. She swayed her hips, trying to follow his movements, only feeling more uncomfortable. Not a second later, she stepped on his foot. “Oh, shit!”
He chuckled. “It’s a foot. I’ve got two, so it’s okay.” He pressed his hand tighter against her back, erasing the distance. Then he shook their clasped hands. “Stop fighting me. Relax.”

Ella sighed. I suck at this!

He leaned down, placing his mouth near her ear, and whispered, “So you work for Aidan, yes?”

His voice raised goose bumps across her flesh, and she shivered. “Yes.” She glanced to the others on the dance floor. It pleased her that no one was watching her horrible dancing skills. Then she stared up into Kyler’s handsome face, since he didn’t allow her any room to do otherwise. “Since you’re Aidan’s groomsman, you must be a good friend.”

A low noise hummed in his throat, and the sound spoke to her on a level she couldn’t have anticipated. It warmed her from head to toe, and her muscles went lax. His fingers slid across her lower back, squeezing her against him, and the heat of his touch burned to her core. “Been good friends for a long time now.”

Good grief, the man seemed not to care they were strangers. He touched her as if they were well acquainted. In the midst of that confidence, Ella forgot the world around her. Her mind focused on him and the way he moved her across the dance floor.

He continued to guide her movements and never once took his eyes off her. “I didn’t see a date with you tonight. Are you unattached?”

Her insides somersaulted with his question, as he appeared interested in finding out if anyone stood in his way. She pondered whether to spill out the details that she was in the process of getting divorced and not looking for another relationship. Well, she would be if Rory’s lawyer stopped dragging his feet. But why tell that depressing shit to a smoking-hot man sandwiching her against the hard planes of his body? “Nope, not attached.”

His chin dipped, bringing his mouth within centimeters of hers. “A good thing for me, Ella, since I’m enjoying this.” The music soared through the air, and as her hips swayed with his, his erection pressed against her stomach.

Trapped in his intense gaze, her body flushed as desire simmered. Holy Jesus, she hadn’t felt this aroused in the presence of a man. No one had ever made her burn with a dance, a look, or the sound of his voice.

Ever.

Kyler’s mouth twitched as he ran his thumb over the top of her hand. “See, sweetheart, you can dance.”

She blinked, realizing she had completely relaxed in his hold, and he was moving her around the dance floor, effortlessly. She leaned in to him, consumed by the strength of his hold. “Apparently, you’re a good teacher.”

He winked. “You bet your pretty little ass I am.”

Excerpt

A few minutes later Jack came into the bedroom. She thought she should tell him to knock first or something, but she didn’t have the energy. The barriers that would normally be there between her and a man just weren’t there with Jack.

“You didn’t eat enough on the plane. I ordered room service.”

“I’m not hungry.”

“Gina.” He walked into the room and stopped in front of her. His blue eyes roamed her face while her heart kicked up. When he met her eyes again, her breath hitched. “You have to rest and you have to eat. We don’t know what’s going to happen, and you need to be strong. That’s one of the rules on a mission. Take care of yourself or you’re no good to your team.”

“I’m not part of your team. I’m just me.”

“You aren’t alone on this. We’re here, and that makes you part of the team. I’m ordering you to eat, same as I’d order my spotter or anyone else under my authority, and then I’m ordering you to rest.”

“I’m not under your authority.” Maybe she should be angry at the way he was talking to her, but she was oddly touched. God, just blame it on stress and a situation outside her control. She needed to push this man away, but she couldn’t seem to do it.
“Think of this like the island. I’m the one with the experience. I know what I’m doing. I got you out of there, didn’t I?”
She nodded.

“Trust me to get you out of here too, okay?”

“All right.”
He lifted an eyebrow. “You gonna eat when the food gets here?”

“Depends on what you ordered. I hate squash, for instance.”
“Then I’ll call and cancel the squash sandwich.”

She couldn’t help but laugh even though it had an edge that could turn into panic at any moment. “You didn’t order anything of the sort.”

“No.” He backed away and reached for the door handle. “Put on your pajamas. Get comfortable.”

“I don’t wear pajamas. I don’t wear anything.”

He stopped in mid-swing and she wanted to laugh again. She did wear pajamas, but she’d wanted to rattle him. Just because.

“Well, honey, you can come out here in nothing if you want, but it’ll probably be embarrassing for you and the delivery person both. Still, you can tip him good and I’m sure it’ll be fine.”

He shot her a grin before shutting the door behind him. Gina stood there with her heart pounding and her pulse skipping and wondered just what it was about him that made her want to get beneath his skin.

Title: Facing the Music

Author: Andrea Laurence

Book Description:

In this sizzling and hilarious contemporary e-book romance, pop sensation Ivy Hudson returns to her small town to face her ex. Only trouble is, she made her Taylor-Swift-like career with the hit song “Size Matters”—and the football hero has had to live it down ever since.

Five years ago, high school sweethearts Ivy and Blake’s relationship imploded and both their lives were changed forever. When a tornado whips through town and destroys the high school gymnasium and stadium, a committee is formed to help rebuild and plan some charity fundraisers. Blake’s grandmother requests that Ivy return to Rosewood for the events. Forced back together for the good of their hometown and their careers, Ivy and Blake have no choice but to put aside their differences, stop running from their pasts, and finally face the music.

My Review:

This book has a little bit of everything from the broken up high school sweethearts, the ex-best friend/popular girl trying to get revenge, stalker paparazzi. And of course the meddling grandmother. It's a sweet and funny story.

I definitely have to say Blake was by far my favorite character in this story. He's sweet and sexy. And definitely seems to roll with the punches that life throws at him. Especially after the song that Ivy has written about him.

I liked Ivy, she's obviously done what she wanted and made her dreams come true with her career. But she does seem to hold on to a grudge a little long. Sure I mean I get where she's coming from.

This book is definitely a sweet little romance and had a good plot that flows well. I can't wait until the next one in this series comes out.

My Review:

Sexy.... Passionate... Erotic.... Heartwarming... This series just keeps getting better and better!!!

So I have to say first of all I had never heard of this series Club Sin before the author Stacey Kennedy started following me on twitter and I kept seeing her posts on the books. So of course being the curious person I am and considering these books were right up my alley. I had to check them out and went and bought the first one. And I fell in love with this series and as much as I liked Dmitri and really liked Aiden. I really, really couldn't wait to read Kyler's book. So I was super excited when I got the chance to review this book.

As I said above I was already in love with Kyler from the first 2 books in this series. Kyler's sexy and passionate and caring. And very protective of those he cares about. All I can say is where can I find my own Kyler?!?!

I liked Ella a lot in this book and you could tell that she was strong and independent after everything she had been through. And I'm glad she got away from her crazy ex. In a way I could kind of relate to Ella and liked her new attitude towards life.

I would have to give this books a 4.5 out of 5 stars and would recommend this book who likes Smoking hot scenes, sexy Club Masters.

Undeniable Demands {Secrets of Eden Book 1} {Book Review}

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the author Andrea Laurence for my review. The opinions in this post are 100% of my own and may differ from others.

Title: Undeniable Demands {Secrets of Eden}

Author: Andrea Laurence

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Description:

When Wade Mitchell finds himself face-to-face with Victoria Sullivan, he has to reconsider his usual tactics. Wade needs to buy something she owns, and he needs it now. Since he and Tori have enough heat to melt ice, it should be a done deal.

But melting Tori's resolve is a harder task. She's not giving in to the man who once fired her. Yet Wade has to keep trying, because if he doesn't, he risks exposing a secret that could destroy his family. When all proper negotiation fails, seduction may be his only option.
My Review:

This is the second  book of Andrea's  that I have read, and also the first book in the Secret of Eden Series. I lately have been doing things, or reading things backwards. Especially book series I seem to read backwards. I read the third book in this series before I even read this one, you can read my review for Heir to Scandal  Here. So having read the third book first I thought I would be really confused but luckily I was easily able to follow along.

If you haven't read any of the book's in this series I should start off with this series follows four of  the foster children of Ken and Molly Eden, the proud owners of  Eden Christmas Tree farm. With only one child of their own,  Julianne.  They fostered Wade, Brody, Heath and Xander.  All of them coming from not very great backgrounds.  They also apparently they have a secret between them, something that happened 15 years ago and could ruin all their lives.

Wade returns home early for Christmas when he receives a phone call from Julianne that their secret may become exposed, after a piece of the Eden land has been purchased. What Wade doesn't expect is to find that the land has been purchased by Victoria, who used to work for and had fired. What I really liked about Wade is the fact that even though he may not have had a great childhood. Is that he wants to protect his "family" any way he can.

I wasn't to sure on Victoria at first. Sure I really liked that she was strong and independent. But she also held a stubborn streak to her. She also at times seemed a little naïve about things. I also thought that even though she may have been fired unfairly by Wade years before. That maybe she held onto a grudge a little too long.

This is a nice fairly straight forward romance that flows nicely. I liked that it had a little bit of everything from Romance, a little bit of Mystery, and it made me laugh a little to. I also really liked that with the little bit of Mystery that Andrea started this series with held my attention and she didn't give much away. So that way I will be looking forward to the other books in this series. I look forward to reading  Brody's story next. And give this book 4 out of 5 Stars.

Crashing Down (Summer Lovin') {Book Review}

Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this book from the author Cathryn Fox for my review. The opinions in this post are 100% of my own and may differ from other's.

Title: Crashing Down {A Summer Lovin Novel}

Author: Cathryn Fox

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Description:

When reckless meets responsible...

Straight A student Kathryn Lane is all work and no play. She's determined to keep her scholarship, and that means no distractions...until she takes a summer internship at Stone Cliff Resort and meets bad boy Noah Ryan. She knows she should keep her distance—after all he’s not the kind of guy she can bring home to daddy—but his disarming smile and dangerous ways are entirely too tempting.

College dropout, Noah Ryan takes one look at Kathryn and instantly knows her type—ambitious, driven and determined, just like he used to be, before the accident that derailed his life and left him an emotional wreck. He vows to avoid her, but when a co-worker backs him into a bet he can’t refuse, everything he’s been running from is challenged and he’s forced to confront his demons.

Soon, Kathryn and Noah are lost to everything except each other. As their lives become entwined, their passion is reckless, their heat all-consuming but when hurtful truths spill out, can Noah prove himself worthy of the one girl who can heal his wounded heart, or will the fire they ignited turn to ash when it all comes crashing down?

My Review:

I first have to say I've read a couple of Cathryn's book and have thoroughly enjoyed her books. I don't give out 5 stars to books often. I usually do 4 Stars or 4.5 Stars even though we can't mark 4.5 stars. Even if its a author I really enjoy reading. But a book has got to grab my attention and hold it to get a 5 star rating from me. And Crashing Down in my opinion is a Must Read.

I fell in love with Noah's character right away. I kept waiting for that moment where I wouldn't like him and it never came. Even when he tried being an ass---- and said he was an ass----. I kept waiting for that moment and again it never came. It's obvious Noah is a little maybe lost in his life and carrying around demons on his shoulders from his friends death. I think all in all Noah's a young man that just doesn't know how to deal with things.

I really liked Kat's character. I won't say love because I rarely love female character's in books. But maybe once I may make an exception for Kat's character. I really liked that Cathryn made Kat's character open to new things. Even though she was set in her ways to how she was supposed to do things.

I have to admit I was a little worried when Noah made that bet with Luke. And was a little worried with what direction the story may take with it. But Overall I was very happy with this story. The story flowed very well and their was just enough sexiness to it to keep my dirty mind happy.

I would definitely recommend this book to friends and family.
