Emily sat on a fallen log and leaned back. When she was little, she’d loved to try to star watch. In LA, this was tricky because of all the city lights, not to mention smog. Doing it here, in the land of the big sky, was a whole new ball game. “I’m not lonely,” she said to the horse, who snorted again and swished his tail.

 

“Good. Cuz you’re not alone.”

 

Two long legs came into her peripheral. Wyatt crouched at her side and looked into her face.  “How are you?”

 

“Fine,” she said.

 

Nodding, he sat on the log at her side and leaned back, presumably to look at whatever she was looking at. “Pretty night.”

He nudged her back and turned to look at her then, his eyes dark and unfathomable behind his glasses.

 

Chickening out, she turned her head this time, and stared up at the sky as he had been only a few seconds before.

 

“Emily.”

“Emily,” he said when they broke for air, his voice rough and husky.

 

She climbed into his lap and then pushed him backwards off the log so that he fell to his back in the wild grass with her straddling him.

 

Laughing, he slid his hands beneath her top and up her back, drawing out a delicious shiver from her.  Then his hands slid slowly down her spine, and into the backs of her jeans.  “Let the record also state,” he said in a delicious growl. “Who made the rest of the moves.”

Jenna “You did what?” Karen looks at me, a bit dumbfounded.

 “You heard me, I accidently ordered a pizza from the Freaking Wicked pizza place in Ohio instead of the one here in Twin Falls. I was having a bad night, and now I can’t seem to stop e-mailing the owner back. It’s only been going on a few days. Oh, and because I freaked out on him, now I get free pizza whenever I want, from the Freaking Wicked here in Twin. He’s the most cynical guy I think I’ve ever talked to, but he has a good heart. I really believe that.”

 “What’s his name?”

 “Alex James.”

 “Is he on Facebook?” Karen asks.

 “I don’t know, I haven’t checked. I’m not you, I don’t need to know every last detail about someone before I talk to them.”

 “What about his website? Is there a picture on his pizza site?”

“Oh, I don’t know.”

 “Well let’s look.” Karen pulls her phone out and Googles Alex’s website.

 “Here.” And she hands me her phone. The face staring back at me is very handsome. Alex has dark brown hair, cut short, beautiful blue eyes, full lips and a strong jaw. He is giving the camera a slight smile and is wearing a simple black t-shirt and a white apron with his pizza shops logo across the top of it.

 “Oh, well, okay.”

 “Okay? At least now you know he’s human and male. I bet he’s packing some muscles under that shirt, you can see the slight bulge of his biceps from his crossed arms.”

 “I already knew that he was human and male. I talked to him on the phone once, remember?” But I look at the picture again and bite my lip, yes, he’s definitely very nice looking. “He’s kind of a looker.”

“Karen! That’s not the point of this. I’m not e-mailing him because I think he’s cute.”

“Well, it doesn’t hurt.” I shrug.

 “No, I guess it doesn’t.” I hear my phone ding.

My Review:

I enjoyed Xander's character I thought he was a relatable person. I also thought he was honorable, takes his responsibilities of his job and his family very seriously. He had a lot going on in his life, but he handled all of the situations with easy and seemed to just go with what life threw at him. And for this reason I could not help but fall in love with him. I think  Xander showed me when life is seems to be spinning out of control that you just need to face and deal with it as best you can.
I thought Rose was independent and sweet. As a single mother myself I know how hard it can be to raise your child/children by yourself. She has a lot of strength and courage that she shows with everything that she has been through.

The way the book was written and the way the character's were made it a very easy read. I also think that what Andrea had me I taking from this book is that no matter where you are in life or what has happened in your life, that you can always have the chance at a second chance in life.

I give this book a 4 out 5 stars and recommend it to anyone who likes to read  sweet and  passionate read with a nice even flow and just enough drama to keep you interested.

My Review:

       When I saw this book on Netgalley I thought it looked really interesting and something I would like to read. I have read one other of this author's books and did a review of it on my other blog. I may have to put that review on here also since I am thoroughly enjoying her books. The other book of Lindsey Brookes I read was Kidnapped Cowboy. So this book just seemed a little different than that one and I thought I would give it a chance.

    Right off the bat this book caught my attention and knew that it was going to be touching and emotional. 

Both of the main character's Ellie and Lucas had a ton of baggage with them.

I fell in love with Lucas's character right away. It was obvious that Lucas carried the weight of his wife and child's death on his shoulders, and his younger brother . Even though I don't really think he should have felt guilty about anything. Lucas was obviously a loyal and stand up guy. And I fell more in love with him for wanting to step up and take care of his brothers child. 

     I liked Ellie's character I think she was a strong and independent character. Especially since what she went through as a child. But I also think those experiences made her a little jaded and stubborn. And Ellie's stubbornness frustrated me at times in the story. 

    I definitely liked the way this story flowed and how it was written. Lindsey Brookes wrote some real life issues tastefully and in such a way that made the characters emotions so much more real. 

    I would definitely give this book a 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it. I can't wait to read more from Lindsey Brookes.

Losing Control {Book Review}

Every time he says my name, it makes my body shiver and my heart stutter. I know he’s going to wreck me, know there won’t be anything left of me but lust and sensation by the time he’s done with me, but even though I can see the heartbreak coming towards me like a train, ready to crash into me, I can’t get out of the way. I want what he makes me feel. Want what he’s offering.

 

This may have started out as something to save my mother, but now…now it’s about what he makes me feel. I’m in danger of losing everything that’s important. Worse? Ian's whispered words and hot caresses are making me believe that's okay

 

My Review:
  I first have to say that this is the first book I have read by Jen Frederick. I was really excited about to get the chance to read the book since its right up my alley in reading genres. I also thought that it was awesome that it was being sent out via email in chapter's. Now that being said lets get down to my review.

   Victoria aka “Tiny” has things pretty hard right now. Her mother has just been diagnosed with cancer for a second time and it looks like it's going to be a much tougher battle this time around. Insurance is an issue and Victoria is still paying the bills from the first time her mother got sick. Victoria works as a bike messenger and its not exactly the job she wants. So she goes to work for her step-brother, Malcolm. The problem with that is Malcolm is obviously handing out jobs that  doing are illegal.

    While on a delivery, Victoria meets Ian Kerr. He's the most gorgeous man she has ever laid eyes on. And I have to say I fell in love with Ian right away also. From that time on Ian takes over Victoria and her mother's lives. The only thing I kind of got confused on is what was really "the job" was that Ian wanted Victoria to do for him. I mean I know he wanted revenge, but it was kind of like it was there in the plot and than it wasn't.

    I thought Jen's writing in this one is really good. Also the emotions are raw and real especially as Victoria speaks of her mother and puts her young life on hold to care for her.
Ian is a mystery and getting inside his head and understanding his motives takes a bit of work. It's worth it though when we finally start to piece together his past. Ian will still have a lot of work to do and Ian's story is not finished just yet. 

 I would like to say, this was a really good read. It was unique, dark, sexy, and you know you will want to check out the next book in the Kerr series. Overall I think 4.5 stars is a perfect fit for this book. And I can say I have become a new fan of Jen Frederick's.
