Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Description

Chicks dig firefighters.
Especially ones packing ten inches.
Oh, and I’ve got an eight pack and a nice ass.
I love women of all shapes, sizes and ethnicities, and I. Don’t. Ever. Quit.
Sound too good to be true? Let’s meet up and you can find out for yourself.
I’m thirty-three. You just need to be over eighteen.
I cuss a lot. And I’m rough. Really rough. And dirty—no, absolutely filthy.
Want a f*ck buddy? I’m your man. But if you’re looking for anything more, I’ll disappoint you.
I’ve been around the block a few times, am happily divorced, and I don’t plan to ever marry again. I don’t even want a girlfriend, or a date.
I’m a grown man, looking for a grown woman to share my bed, but not my heart.

Darryl Mackenzie is the ultimate playboy who never wants to settle down.
But everything changes when he starts developing feelings for his friend, Carly.
Problem is, Carly lives 1,400 miles away in L.A. Even worse, she’s got an insanely overprotective boyfriend.
So what happens when Carly brings her boyfriend back home to Dallas for her sister’s wedding?

Friends-to-lovers romance - novella length - insta-love - HEA. This book contains some sensitive subject matter.

My Review

I've mentioned this before in reviews, but haven't in a while. I love finding new authors and books to read. Well "new" to me authors. I have never read anything from this author and I'm unsure if there's other novella's that go with this novella.

But this one just didn't work for me at all. I mean absolutely didn't work. I'm not sure what the heck I read in this novella. There was no romance in this story. I felt no connection at all the the main characters Darryl or Carly. I felt no connection between Darryl and Carly.

In the description it says its supposed to be an insta-love book, but I didn't even feel an insta-love connection between the two characters. In fact Carly has a boyfriend and has brought him to her sisters wedding.

I guess Darryl was alright. I mean if you like the cocky, egotistical, alpha male types. He certainly thought highly of himself. And he sure was stuck on Carly.

And I'm sorry but I just didn't like Carly at all. Kind of just like Darryl, she was stuck on herself. And I found her to be kind of rather rude.

I know this review seems sort of harsh and I'm truly not trying to make it that way. But as I've mentioned this one just didn't work for me. I also felt as the author just threw in some drama to throw it in there. And I kind of felt like she just rushed at the end to push Darryl and Carly together and just wanted to make it seem like all the sudden they had feelings for each other.

I actually found the secondary characters much more enjoyable. Especially Sam and Carly's sister, and even Sophie.

I can only give this book 2 Stars out of 5!!!!!
