Unexpected Fate {Book Review}

Title: Unexpected Fate

Author: Harper Sloan

Book Description:

Have you ever felt like you were living your life for a future that was predetermined? Like there was some bigger picture you just prayed you would someday see clearly? That picture has been crystal clear to me since I was old enough to recognize it for just what it was.

Or I should say recognize him for who he was.

I’ve loved Cohen Cage since I was a small child. He’s been my everything for the last twenty-two years. I’ve loved him through every girlfriend he’s ever brought home. Through his college years and then mine. I’ve loved him through two deployments. And ever since the day I told him how I felt, he’s acted like I’m a stranger.

My name is Danielle Reid, and it’s time for me to get my man.

Our future is an unexpected fate, and no matter what our parents, siblings, and friends say…it’s going to be worth every second of the fight to make it happen.

**This book is a standalone, HEA, with mature themes and sexual situations**

My Review:

     So I had been meaning to read the books from the Corps Security series and had just pre-ordered the boxed set, when I saw the sign up for Unexpected Fate. And I thought oh how fun to finally get to read all of them together. So after reading the boxed set I was super excited to get to read Unexpected Fate. This book starts off making me laugh (in a good way) and author Harper Sloan kept my attention till the end.

     This book starts off with Danielle "Dani" Reid and Cohen "Coh" Cage all grown up. You can feel the attraction between the two of them right off the bat. It was fun to see these two character's all grown up.

    Cohen is still his fun loving self, but just isn't running around in his cape anymore. He's just older and sexier and a little bit stubborn. I loved Cohen even more in this book. Even though all I could think of was when he was younger and he was like "Maddox Locke."

     Dani Reid is a girl or more like woman on a mission. She knows what she wants and nothing is going to stop her from getting the man of her dreams. I really enjoyed Dani's character.

     I'm always a little wary when an author brings back characters when their older and in their own books. Sometimes an author can pull it off and other times it's a big disappointment. But author Harper Sloan did not let me down in this book. This book starts off with a bang and will hold your attention till the end. It will make you laugh and make you cry a little bit, and of course a book is not complete without a little bit of drama mixed in.

    It was also nice to see the return of some old characters and see how close knit everyone is still. Also the newest additions to these characters fit in.

    I'd give this book 4.5 Stars out of 5 and would definitely recommend it. Especially if you enjoyed the Corp Security series. I will say this even though this is a stand alone novel. I might suggest read the Corp Security series first (if you haven't yet). So you know who is who.
