Title: Martyris
Series: Cavalieri Della Morta Series
Author: Yolanda Olson
Genre: Romance Suspense
Book Description:
I like to think of myself as the good guy.
The kind of man that will take a beating or a bullet for my brothers and not think twice about it. But anyone that knows my story has only seen the tip of the proverbial iceberg and my intentions sometimes resemble the Titanic.
It's when I lose control.
I do my best to love and respect everyone because some people need it more than others—even the ones that don't deserve it.
My name is Gareth Bresett and the only thing that matters to me in this world is Bentlee Gains. I'll do everything I can to keep her safe from every evil in this world, including myself.
Because while I like to think that I'm the good guy, I find more pleasure in taking out a mark than I do being in her arms.
Regardless of who that mark happens to be.
My Review:
Wait A Minute....... What The Heck Did I Just Read?......
Martyris is the third book in the Cavalieri Della Morte, multi book, multi author series. And I have to admit this one really could be considered a novella. But this is the first time I have read anything by Mrs. Olson, so she's a new to me author. And that's what I love about series like this is I get to meet/read new to me authors.
Now I'm going to get down to the nitty gritty of this review and admit I was having some major issues with this book as I was reading it. I honestly had to stop reading it because I was convinced I couldn't give this book more than 2 Stars. So I thought I would sleep on it and try and read the rest tomorrow (today). I slept for a couple of hours and woke to a coughing fit and couldn't fall back asleep and figured what the heck I'll go ahead and try and knock the rest of this book out. Only to have my Mind Blown....
Now I don't want to give anything about this book away in a Spoiler, which I'm sure I would if I really tried to explain this review. Let's just say that everything you thought you knew or read isn't exactly what you thought or read. This book is very different from the first two books in this series.
I have to say that I loved Gareth. This is the first time we're getting to meet him in this series. He is probably one of the guy's that I love the most in this series so far. I mean I've really liked Lance and I thought Geraint was alright. But Gareth probably reminded me most of the boy next door that was easy to fall in love with. Except this next door boy had a very very dark side. Gareth is the one whom seemed to love hard.
I will say this even knowing the way that this book ended I still had my issues with Gareth and heroine Bentlee. I want to say why I really do, but I think if I bring it up than it may turn people off from reading this book, believe me like I mentioned above it almost, almost made me give this book a lower rating.
I will also say this my heart broke for Gareth at the end of this book and for the Cavalieri brotherhood. Even though I had some issues with this book, I did think it was a nice addition to this series. I also felt like in this book there was more of a feel of the brotherhood that was in Lance's book, but had been missing from Geraint's book. And if I haven't mentioned it enough already in this review with the twist at the end equals my mind blown.
I'm giving this book 3.5 Stars out of 5 and now on to the next one!!!!
