My Review:

    This is another one of those series that I so love to read, but have not been able review before now. And I was really happy to be able to have the chance to review this book. If you love books that have action, suspense, ex-military men, and some romance mixed in than you'll like the Black Knight INC men. And this book has a little bit of that all mixed into it. This book starts with a bang (literally), well with a sad bang. 

      Carlos "Steady" Soto was confident and strong right off the bat. He obviously still cares for Abby very much. But you can tell there's a sadness underneath his tough exterior. 

      Abby was a likable heroine. She's very independent, even though her fathers the president. She's also a tough cookie after being kidnapped. Though I do think Abby carries way too much guilt on her shoulders that she shouldn't be carrying. 

     I think this story had great flow throughout it. I loved all of the characters in this book. Like I said even though this is not the first book I've read by author Julie Ann Walker this is the first one I've reviewed. I think Mrs. Walker grabs your attention from the beginning of the book to the end. 

    I give this book 4.5 Stars Out of 5 Stars and would recommend it to anyone who likes these kind of books.

My Review:

    This is another one of those series that I adore. And I love the Hard Ink boy's. This is the third book in this series. I've bought the other books in this series to read. But this is the first one that I've been able to review. I will say that I would that these books should be read in order (I mean you could read it as a stand alone). Though I will say you may be confused of what's going on, if you read as a stand alone.
 

     I loved Derek "Marz" DiMarzio in this book. He has been one of my favorites since the beginning of the Hard Ink series has started. But I loved him even more in this book. You really get to know who Marz is. He's still his funny, smart, laughable self in this book. And he doesn't let his amputation get him down. And  man oh man is he a dirty talker.

    Emilie is a sweetheart in this book. She's passionate about her job and she cares deeply about her family and friends.

     I love how Laura Kaye  takes us on a journey through these books in trying to find justice for these guys who have been disgraced. And there are some big secrets revealed in this book. Hard To Come By pulls you in from the beginning and holds you tell the end. I love the relationships between each and everyone of these characters in the books.

     I give this book a 4.75 Stars Out Of 5 Stars and would definitely recommend this book if you either enjoy the Hard Ink series if you've read them before. Or if you just enjoy a story that has a little bit of suspense, some mystery, some action and don't forget the steamy romance.

“Sorry, take-away?”     

   “Nah, think I might stay?” I say and nod. Yep. Definitely staying. 

 “Um, sure. Take a seat,” she says and turns to her colleague. 

“Gabs, can you give him a number?”             

“Oh, honey. I’ll give this one a number alright.”  

  I chuckle, and take the number on a metal stand that she hands me. Blondie gives me a tickle of a smile and then returns behind the machine.             

I lazily wander to the only vacant chair in the corner, and wait impatiently for blondie to deliver my coffee.         

    I’ve got a fuckin’ good feeling I’m gonna enjoy this assignment.

Cathryn’s Favorite Holiday Recipe

 

This is a family recipe that has been handed down from generation to generation. It’s so easy and a family favourite.  

 

Peanut Butter Squares

1/2 cup melted butter

1 cup peanut butter

1/2 cup graham wafer crumbs

2 cups icing sugar

2 teaspoons of milk

Put all ingredients together and spread in 9 by 9 inch greased pan.

 

Melt one half a package of chocolate chips (1cup) with one teaspoon of peanut butter and spread on top.  Let set, but cut before firm.

Sawyer’s Favorite Holiday Recipe

 

This one’s my absolute favorite holiday recipe!

 

Pumpkin Roll


Ingredients

3 large eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup canned pumpkin
1 teaspoon lemon juice
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 cup pecans, finely chopped
1 cup confectioners' sugar, plus more for sprinkling
Two 3-ounce packages cream cheese, room temperature
1 stick butter (1/2 cup), room temperature
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

 

Directions

 

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 17 1/2- by 12 1/2-inch jellyroll pan.

With an electric mixer, beat the eggs, granulated sugar, pumpkin and lemon juice until smooth. Sift together the flour, ginger, salt, baking powder and cinnamon. Add the sifted ingredients to the egg mixture and blend until fully combined. Spread the batter in the jellyroll pan. Sprinkle the dough with the chopped pecans. Bake until a cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean, 14 minutes. Let the cake cool in the pan for 5 minutes.

Invert the cake onto a wire rack. Sprinkle some of the confectioner' sugar on a large tea towel and carefully transfer the warm cake to the towel, folding the sides of the towel over the cake. Roll the cake up in the towel and cool in the refrigerator thoroughly for about 45 minutes.

With an electric mixer, combine the confectioners' sugar, cream cheese, butter and vanilla and beat until smooth. Carefully unroll the cooled cake and spread the mixture on top of the cake. Gently re-roll the cake up and refrigerate it until you're ready to slice and serve. Dust with confectioners' sugar just before serving.
