The Violet Widow {Book Review}

Title: The Violet Widow
Series: The Shattered Heart Series
Author: K.E. Osborn
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Description:

I was a wife.
I was a mother.
Now... I’m a Madam.

I had a loving family. A husband and son who I adored until they were tragically ripped from me. Something inside me died the same time they did. My heart stopped beating. I had to become stronger, tougher. I had to close down my emotions and become someone entirely different to who I was before.
I became the Violet Widow.
Now, I run a high-class escort and sex worker agency. To my staff, I’m known only as Boss. No one knows my past, and I don’t have a future. That was until he walked into my life.

I'm Hudson Stone. Meeting someone like her was never part of my life plan. My life is my work and I put everything I have into my career choice. I'm strong willed, passionate and loyal, but cross me or the ones I love and you will pay. Vengeance is in my blood and I'm out to seek it. Until she stepped into my world--beautiful, sassy and confident, she had the power to destroy me.
Will their paths collide or will their secrets explode, leaving their hearts shattered and lives in tatters.

My Review:

Ok complete honesty here again, I had a hard time with this book. About half way through it I wasn't sure if I was going to finish it or not and I'll tell you why in a minute.

This book The Violet Widow is the first book in this dueo. It is the first part of Violet and Hudson's story. This first part takes place during part of Stealth and The Meltdown of Mad Dog. Do I have an issue with that? No, I actually like when books tie in together. So I wasn't confused with what was going on in the book, since I have read the other books.

Here is where my issue kinda happens. I felt for the first half of the book it was kind of repetitive. It felt like every other paragraph to every two paragraphs was the same thing. And I was like, "Wait I just read that in the paragraph before the last one." And I just found myself wanting to bash my head somewhere.

I had mixed feelings about Violet in this first part and my heart broke for her. But at the same time she drove me absolutely bonkers and had me frustrated with her. At times I want to reach through my kindle and shake her. Or maybe pitch my kindle across the room. Look I get it, she tragically lost her son and husband. And she's had to do what she's had to do to survive. But at times she acted like her husband and son were still alive and than others she knew they were dead. And her mood swings at times gave me whiplash.

Yay so glad we got to see more of Hudson. We briefly got to meet him in Stealth. I thought he was sweet and caring in this book. I'm glad we got to know him a bit better in this book.

Like I said up top the first half of this book was just eh, for me. But I liked the second half of the book and thought it picked up. There were definitely a ton of emotions through this book. And I definitely got teary eyed at parts.

I'd have to give this book 3.5 to 4 stars out of 5!!!!
