Thoughts of tomorrow’s encounter should have filled her head too full to dwell on the pretty cowboy splashing around in the water below, but her brain had other ideas. Her sleep-deprived synapses were weary of stressful thoughts and eager for something to take her mind off heavier issues. Swallowing hard, Lily wrenched her gaze from the swimming hole, taking her time spreading her towel out on the rocks near the bend in the river, doing her best to pull herself together. She wished Canyon hadn’t known about this particular spot. All the other tourists were down at the well-marked river beach with the manned lifeguard stand, which meant they were alone here, with nothing to distract Canyon from noticing that she was practically drooling all over herself. She’d never been ruled by lust before—she’d only slept with two men, though she’d certainly been attracted to others—but a bear claw had never tasted as delicious as the one at the donut shop last night, either. Time away from a human body had sharpened her senses, making her a slave to every sweet-smelling scent on the breeze, each bite of suddenly magical-tasting food, and the hunger to feel another body warm against hers. Preferably Canyon’s, the way it had been last night. It was all sorts of wrong, probably akin to a nurse lusting after her patient. She’d been sent here to help this man, not think about how good he looked in a swimsuit. She was ashamed of herself, but not so ashamed that she could keep her eyes from drifting from the romance novel she’d purchased last night to where Canyon frolicked in the water. Romance had clearly been a bad choice. She should have brought poor Grace’s well-worn copy of The Bell Jar and spent an hour inside the mind of a depressed genius, instead. But she was tired of sad, depressing things. She didn’t want to think about being in a body her sons wouldn’t recognize or that the man she would always love like a piece of her own soul was married to someone else. She didn’t want to think about only having a week to save a good man’s life or what waited for her on the other side of this brief return to earth.

My Review:

Man oh man, where do I start with this review? Well let's just start with I think I have pretty much read the whole Lonesome Point series.  And I say think, because I think I have missed one book. And each and every time Mrs. Evans pulls you on an emotional roller-coaster of emotions in each and every story. And I just knew that this story wouldn't be any different. This book follows Lily and Canyon.  I was wondering how Mrs. Evans was going to bring Lily book to life since Lily has already passed on.

     This book hit really really close to home for me. I don't want to make this about faith or religion or whatever you may or may not believe in. But I think as humans or maybe it's just me, but I think about the what ifs? The do spirits of passed ones really come back. The if I could just have one more moment to just say goodbye. What would you do? 

     oh Lily. I have to say that even though Lily is now inhibiting a different body, she is the same sweet Lily. She has been given the chance to come back to earth to help save another lost soul. But she also has her own agenda of saying goodbye to her family, especially her boy's who she didn't get the chance to say goodbye to. But she soon finds out that the short time she feels she has been away is actually longer.

     I loved Canyon right away and my heart broke for him. He's sweet and caring. But just can't get over the guilt and death of his son. He doesn't feel like he deserves to live. I loved the moment at the end when it hits him like a ton of bricks, that yes, yes he did really want to live.

     This is a very sweet and touching second chance romance for both characters. And not just a second chance romance, but a second chance at life for both characters. This book captured my attention from being to end. It was sweet, touching and heartbreaking all at the same time. Make sure you have copious amounts of tissues, ice cream, chocolate on hand while reading. 

     I'm giving this book 5 out of 5 Stars!!!!!

Pursing her lips, her face gets serious again. “I don’t think you should get involved.

“You involved me when you asked for help. It’s too late anyway. I’m already in.”

“Shit,” she mumbles.

  Leaning forward in my seat, I rest my elbows on my knees and focus on her face to keep her attention. “I have an intro to Creed tonight. If this goes well, I could have a job. If it doesn’t go well, we will rethink the plan.” Now she looks completely defeated and we’ve only just started.

  “I don’t have a plan, Max,” she states, standing and putting her hand to her forehead. “What I have is a niece who needs my help, law enforcement in this shit of a town that refuses to acknowledge what’s happening in it, and the only person I think I can count on is meeting with the man who’s to blame for all of it.”

  “I don’t think Hoss is the biggest problem,” I inform. “If rumor is true, there’s someone else leading this, and that someone is big. Hoss is no one in comparison to who we’re really talking about.”

DIRTY.

My Review:

I have read several of this authors books before have enjoyed her books. Dirty is not your typical MC romance book. In this book we get to know Max Taylor and Emma Carson. We also get to know about the young Casey Richards and what is happening with her. We also kind of find out what is going on in Satan's Creed Motorcycle Club. 

Max Taylor finds himself back in his hometown and helping his old friend Emma get her niece out of the Satan's Creed hands. I really liked Max right from the beginning. He's older, sexy, and knows what he wants. He's also a man of his word. You can also see that even though he didn't have a chance with Emma when he was younger, that he definitely still feels something for her.

I liked Emma, though I feel like we didn't get to know her much. I think we got to know her a little bit. You can obviously tell she cares very much about her niece. 

I thought this first part was very good. Obviously Warning this book ends on a cliffhanger. But luckily the second part is coming out soon, so we won't have to wait to long to see what happens. Also as I said this first part is really about getting to know to the characters and the background of the story. I enjoyed most of the characters.  

I'm giving this first book 4 out of 5 stars and can't wait to read the second part.

Excerpt

Besides his job as enforcer for the Lost Kings MC, Wrath owns a gym. One of the ways he tries to reconcile with Trinity is by asking her to help him prepare for a fight. This is from one of the times they’re working together.

My attention is finally drawn to the papers Trinity has in her hands. “What’s that?”

“Oh, it’s nothing. I didn’t realize Jake was already… You asked me to put some stuff together… So never mind.”

She folds the papers in half before I snatch them out of her hands.

“Ow! Thanks for the paper cuts, asshat.”

Jake chuckles and grabs her hands to look them over. I can’t wait to get in the ring with him later and kick his ass while Trinity watches.

I’m impressed with what she printed out. I knew she’d be good at this. She’s got a week’s worth of circuit training exercises broken into different ones on each day. Each circuit includes a balance of strength and endurance exercises. I glare at Jake, and he takes the hint to get lost.

“You’ve done your homework,” I say, handing the papers back to Trin.

The corner of her mouth twitches down in disappointment. “You don’t think it’s any—”

“Is that what I said?” I hate snapping at her, but sometimes it’s the only way to get through her self-doubt.

“No.”

“Where’d you find some of these?”

“Are they too advanced for you?”

I tilt my head and stare at her. “Seriously?” She chuckles. “Good, then call me when you’re going to try the Front Lever. It looks sexy.” She spins away and heads back to the office.

Author Bio

As an only child, Autumn kept herself entertained by making up all sorts of stories. For a long time, life and school dimmed her enthusiasm for creative writing. But as soon as she rediscovered her love of storytelling, she put her fingers to the keyboard and hasn’t looked back.

The old man dropped his hand from Gio’s arm, and looked wistfully up the block towards his own house, just eight up from Gio’s.

“I used to watch her, Lisa, run to your house every day, in high school. She was in love you know. Back then, I thought it was a passing fancy.” He closed his eyes at the memory. “I remember her telling me she was going to marry you one day. She was fourteen when she said it, and I laughed. Then you kids had all those fights, and I took them so seriously. You boys, good boys, I know that now, but you had your share of scrapes in the neighborhood. I was a father of all girls. What did I know? I worried. I heard stories. But I didn’t keep in mind that you were just kids.”

“Sir, I don’t understand what you are trying to say?” The old man was rambling and Gio knew he was trying to make a point. He wanted to move him along.

“I should have never allowed her to marry that man. I should have not even considered it. But I was going to lose everything, and the Rasmussens, I owed them too. They were a good family I thought, so rich, respected. When Albert’s father approached me, it was a business deal. I did not think. I thought it was a step up, but I was wrong. I saw bruises on my daughter’s arms once and I almost killed myself.”

Gio stood back, shocked, and the old man’s words grew harsher. He was practically spitting the words out. Still he remained silent hearing the man out.

“That was about two years after Lisa married. But Celia, I could not tell her. I was mortified, and so ashamed. I am not a man. Then as Johnny grew up, and I recognized he was your son . . .”

“You knew?” Gio interrupted.

“How could I not? I watched you grow up son, and I was even more ashamed of myself.” He went on. “I never spoke my suspicions out loud. Celia, she was mad enough already at me for my gambling. To know her daughter was married to a man who beat her, had the son of her former lover, who she still yearned for, but had done this to keep a house over our heads, that was enough to bear. I could not tell her my suspicions.” The man held his hand up to his heart.

Gio was afraid the man would have a heart attack. He had to stop him. “Mr. Raphael. We all have our regrets. I have mine too. I know I wasn’t perfect. I made mistakes.” He sighed trying to think of what to say next. “I think we all need to just put the past behind us. Focus on the here and now.” He looked towards his house, where Lisa and Johnny played and laughed inside with family, and something clicked inside him. “We have all lived our lives for too long with regret. I think we need to stop regretting the past, and move on. What do you say?” he held out his hand and Mr. Raphael took it with tears in his eyes.

“Son, thank you. That would mean a lot. As many mistakes as we, I, have made, that would do my heart good. I love my daughters and my grandson. Your son. I am glad he is yours.”

“He is a fine boy. I’m glad too.”

“And son, one more thing.” He took hold of Gio’s arm once more as he was about to turn and head back inside. “You say you were not perfect, but you are. Perfect for my Lisa anyhow. I wish I had seen that earlier.”

The old man was smiling at him with tears still in his eyes. “You old fool,” Gio swiped the tears that had sprung from his own eyes, and pulled Mr. Raphael into his arms, and gave him a quick hug. The man was crying and laughing at the same time.

“Let’s get inside. I miss my family.”

“I do too, son. I do to.”
